FileSearcher

Description

FileSearcher is a desktop application that provides full text search capability using a host of different file types. Supported file types include Plain Text (txt), Rich Text Format (rtf), Web pages (HTML), Microsoft™ Word (doc), Adobe™ PDF (pdf) and more.

The most innovative feature of this program is that you can view a brief snapshot of any information found while searching. This enables you to preview your search results while you are looking without having to wait until the search has finished. It is possible to stop the search at any moment if you have found the file you are looking for.

Exact search results are provided with both simplified and power search settings. These settings can be easily specified within FileSearcher.

 

FileSearcher allows you to search for files:

  • By filename mask (also with regular expressions)
  • In subdirectories
  • In archives (ie zip)
  • More exact search in found
  • By date (created/modified/accessed), size (greater/less/equal) and attributes (read only/hidden/system/directory etc)
  • Full text (also with regular expressions)
  • And more ...

 

FileSearcher allows you to manage found files:

  • Open, open containing folder and open with particular program
  • Cut, copy, rename (by mask) and delete
  • Safely delete found files and wipe out all their data from hard disk
  • Copy selected file names and put them on the Clipboard
  • Copy and move to another location
  • Select files by mask

FileSearcher provides you with extremely powerful full text search with regular expressions.

FileSearcher allows to search for file duplicates. Deleting or moving duplicate files helps to clean up disk space and manage files better. It is possible to find file duplicates by name, size and date of creation/access/modification.

FileSearcher can help backup files without duplicating them in archives. You can find only newly created or modified files for adding them to new archive. So this allows you to have one base archive and a sequence small additional archives only with new or changed files. It helps you to safe space on storage medium.

FileSearcher makes possible to delete found files and wipe out their data from hard drive. It is not possible to restore them later. Only file names can be recovered but not their content. The patterns used for overwriting are based on Peter Gutmann's paper "Secure Deletion of Data from Magnetic and Solid-State Memory" and they are selected to effectively remove magnetic remnants from the hard drive.

There are some restrictions:

  • Cannot delete files greater 4Gb
  • Cannot delete filename information
  • May take quite long time for large files

DupDupDel is a desktop application for fast and easy duplicate file search and removing. It allows to clean up and make more free space on hard drives, flash cards and other medium.

What does this program outstanding of other programs of such type is the fastest search and the easiest to use user interface.

 

DupDupDel provides searching for file duplicates by:

  • Name, searching with a filename mask is possible
  • Size, files greater 4 GB are possible
  • Date, last file modification
  • CRC32 hash code, does not garantee 100% identity of files
  • Contents, slower but exact byte-by-byte search

 

DupDupDel allows you to manage found files:
